Summer Programme 2016: a Jazz Festival and the beaches of Paris

The city of Paris organises a wide-ranging programme of activities and entertainment with something to tempt every holidaymaker. Jazz lovers will be thrilled that the 23rd edition of the Paris Jazz Festival will fill the beautiful Parc Floral de Vincennes with the rhythms of their favourite music. Then there’s the chance to take full advantage of summer in the heart of the capital with Paris Plage, an annual event that brings actual sandy beaches right into the capital.

Jazz in the midst of a floral park

The Paris Jazz Festival is an extraordinary event that attracts over a hundred thousand spectators each year; not only true jazz fans but also anyone else wishing to enrich their summer programme. This year’s 23rd edition will run each weekend from June 11th to July 31st, and will feature the kind of vibrant and eclectic performances for which the event has become famed worldwide. The festival takes place amidst the botanical gardens of Vincennes, and could there possibly be a lovelier setting in which to relax and enjoy some great music?

You and your family can enjoy the many delights of the park and then savour concert performances by various internationally acclaimed musicians. Music is indeed a universal language and this festival speaks that language! This summer, you can embrace the world of jazz from Switzerland to Armenia, in Brussels, on the Iberian Peninsula, in Havana, and of course you will journey to the United States, to pay homage to the land where jazz was born.

Paris Plage, come and enjoy a month of relaxation

Paris Plage (literally Paris Beach) is an annual event in which key areas in the heart of the capital are made over into beaches, with real sand, deckchairs, sun loungers, palm trees, parasols and a host of fun activities for the whole family. Hugely popular, it allows both Parisians and visitors to the city to enjoy a beach resort experience by the Seine. The 2016 edition is scheduled to take place from July 18th until September 4th, and the beaches will be open to the public from 9 am to midnight.

Paris Plage will see three main areas converted into beaches, namely the Bassin de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement, the Voie Georges Pompidou in the 1st and 4th arrondissements, and the square in front of the Hôtel de Ville, which is situated in the 4th arrondissement. The 14th and 20th arrondissements also establish their own beaches in the Elisabeth and Louis Lumière sports centres. A programme of activities is offered at each beach location, including cultural events, sports, workshops, children’s entertainment, games and more.

To be in close proximity to all the fun, why not stay at the Cler Hotel? Just minutes from the beach party scene, the hotel offers a warm welcome and a variety of high quality services and amenities imbued with a purely Parisian spirit.
